Ruth's Transformation

Ruth approached us for guidance, coaching and accountability on her journey.

Ruth approached us for guidance, coaching and accountability on her journey. So we created a personalised 12 week transformation program that Ruth committed to: a combination of healthy eating, training and accountability (using a photo food diary).

Then, 1 week before we started, Ruth badly injured her knee and it became clear that the strength and fitness training we had planned to do would have to be scaled back significantly from 3-4 full body workouts per week to just 1 or 2 upper body and rehab based sessions until her knee got better.

Despite this set back Ruth stayed committed to changing her diet and even with the reduced levels of exercise, her body weight began to come down. Feeling motivated Ruth stuck with it; cooking more of her own meals, and making smart choices when eating out. After 8 weeks, the knee started to get a little better and Ruth was able to increase her training, getting back to some functional fitness classes with modifications for the knee. This extra 1-2 sessions per week was the catalyst for even greater weight loss.

I’ve been going to Energy For Life for the last 6 months or so. It’s the first studio I’ve consistently wanted to come back to which says a lot for me. I love the variety in the classes, they are designed to push and challenge while also being completely considered of people’s ability’s with absolutely no ego or judgment involved. All the teachers here are equally incredible which I personally think is pretty rare thing in Brighton!! I’ve always focused on strength and tend to over push myself but after taking advice I’ve started incorporating Lucy’s Pilates and now some yoga into my week. It’s been really great to mix things up depending on how my body is feeling and gives me the option to stay consistent. EFL is fun, friendly, inclusive and such a gorgeous community to be part of. I love this studio so so much!!!! Tom and Emma really have created something special here and I can’t imagine wanting to train anywhere else. I’ve definitely found my training tribe x

Great gym, top trainers who know their stuff. All sessions are well thought out & put together. Great mix of clients, age & fitness wise but EFL works for all. Probably the best gym/workouts I've done.

I love the functional fitness and strength classes at Energy for Life. I’ve never tried anything like this before but the teachers are all very knowledgeable and supportive I’ve progressed at my own pace and enjoyed every session. I can definitely feel the improvements and I would highly recommend giving it a try
