“EATING FAT WON’T MAKE YOU FAT!”

There I said it! But before you go “yeah.. but”…. Just take a breath and in your head, imagine for just a minute that this statement is TRUE. How would you feel about fat then? How would your choices of what you eat and how you relate to different foods change? Freedom to eat Fat – Wouldn’t it be great? Guilt and fear free strawberry’s and cream! No more skimmed milk (aka white sugar water), and being able to say YES to the crispy skin on your salmon fillet, roast chicken or pork belly! Life would be pretty good wouldn’t it? That’s because deep down in your core, your DNA is programmed to LOVE fat. Our ancestors ate heaps of the stuff. In fact it is one of the reasons why we have evolved to have such large brains and be so intelligent (apparently ;-). Emma and I have given ourselves permission to eat this way since 2012, following a high quality, high fat, reduced carb philosophy and we have never felt so healthy, we rarely get ill and are happy with our body compositions. I also believe that this philosophy played a big part in building healthy baby Mylo, and watching him start to eat this way over the last couple of weeks, it just all seems to make sense. BUT! Before you all go running to the seafront for battered fish and chips because Tom told you that it wouldn’t make you fat, just hang on a second. As always, it isn’t that black and white. Amongst other things, not all fats are created equal and fat consumed with sugar is not a good combo. Hopefully, this sparks some questions for you and goes someway to starting your personal exploration into how you eat and the impact it has on how you feel energetically and how you feel about your body composition. This is just the tip of the iceberg so we’d encourage you to do your own research (try Dr Mark Hyman and Chris Kresser as good places to start) and experiment.
