Ruth's Transformation

Ruth approached us for guidance, coaching and accountability on her journey.

Ruth approached us for guidance, coaching and accountability on her journey. So we created a personalised 12 week transformation program that Ruth committed to: a combination of healthy eating, training and accountability (using a photo food diary).

Then, 1 week before we started, Ruth badly injured her knee and it became clear that the strength and fitness training we had planned to do would have to be scaled back significantly from 3-4 full body workouts per week to just 1 or 2 upper body and rehab based sessions until her knee got better.

Despite this set back Ruth stayed committed to changing her diet and even with the reduced levels of exercise, her body weight began to come down. Feeling motivated Ruth stuck with it; cooking more of her own meals, and making smart choices when eating out. After 8 weeks, the knee started to get a little better and Ruth was able to increase her training, getting back to some functional fitness classes with modifications for the knee. This extra 1-2 sessions per week was the catalyst for even greater weight loss.

After some searching I have finally found an organisation delivering a professional and reliable Pilates class. One of the great things about Vincent’s Tuesday morning class is the breadth of experience he caters for: beginner to experienced, you can take his instructions as easily or as difficult as you feel at the time. No pressure. And the variety of moves ensures that all bits of the body are addressed and challenged. I really enjoy his class and am so glad to have found it. Highly recommended.

I initially bought a one day weekly pass to try out strength training , but at the end of week one , decided to move to twice weekly . It’s great and at the end of my first month , am already feeling the benefits in increased strength and fitness . I run regularly and am constantly injuring myself , so increasing overall strength is vital , plus as I get older I’m concerned about maintaining bone density. The sessions are enjoyable. They are in small groups and attention is paid to individuals in order ensure correct posture and positioning. It’s a lovely friendly establishment and I can’t recommend it enough. Wish I’d discovered it before!

A friend recommended Emma's yoga lessons at Energy for Life about six weeks ago. Since then I have been going to her flow yoga classes 1-3 times per week. There is a good selection of classes and teachers throughout each day - enough to fit in with any schedule. The space is clean, warm and light. Most importantly, Emma is a great teacher: creative, curious, generous and compassionate. No two lessons are the same. I find them highly beneficial and recommend them!

I did five sessions while I was visiting Brighton, and would really recommend! I picked strong flow yoga, pilates and functional fitness, and the sessions were varied and challenging - I wish I lived nearby and could stay signed up!
